MABALACAT CITY — Some 20 persons with disabilities (PWDs) have completed a 17-day high-speed sewing course.
This was learned from Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PWDAO) head by Michael Miranda.
The skills training was initiated by the PWDAO, in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office and Public Employment and Services Office.
Miranda said the program is aimed at uplifting the living condition of physically-challenged individuals in the city. Mayor Crisostomo Garbo said the local government, through the city council, has allocated funds for the construction of a livelihood training center.
“We are providing you (with) the trainings but what’s next after these? That is why we are working on the construction of the training center where all of our skilled Mabalaqueños will work to generate income for their families,” Garbo told the PWDs.
Other officials present during the event were Vice Mayor Christian Halili, Councilors Jeng Yumul, Rox Peña, Bok Tiglao and Geld Aquino.
CSWDO Head Josephine Tanglao, and Federation of PWDs President Esteban Buan also graced the commencement exercises of the beneficiaries.
Arthur Cabigting, media affairs officer of First district of Pampanga Representative Carmelo Lazatin, reiterated the solon’s support PWDs of Mabalacat city.
