History of Barangay Camachiles
During the 1960’s, Barangay Camachiles was just a territorial enclave (Sitio) that forms part of Barangay Mabiga, form the then Municipality of Mabalacat, Pampanga. Its far location from the center of the barangay itself, hampers the delivery of services from the government, thus depriving the people of their basic needs from the authorities.
Due to these deprivations and considering that its population were high enough and could be its own, a barangay; a local resident by the name of Manuel M. Dizon persistently pressed on until it was finally became independent from Barangay Mabiga.
Hon. Manuel M. Dizon became the first Tiniente Del Barrio in 1960 until 1965. He continued to hold the office until 1967, now as Punong Barangayl; retaining the same functions and powers, but changing his official title by virtue of the Democratic Rule during the Presidency of Ferdinand E. Marcos. He was succeeded by Hon. Marcelino P. Tique (1967-1972) and Hon. Dionisio P. Magsino (1973-1982).
It was during the time of Hon. Pacifico F. Gonzales (1983-1985) sometime in 1983, that Barangay Camachiles was officially recognized as one of the Barangay in the Municipality of Mabalacat, Pampanga.
He was succeeded by Hon. Ladislao S. Miranda (1985-1993), Hon. Abelardo L. Magsino (1994-2007) and the incumbent Punong Barangay Hon. Jessie L. Duran (2007-present).
It was said that Barangay Camachiles derived its name from Camachile Trees, Pithecellobium dulce because the place is once abundant with it.
