History of Barangay Sta. Ines
Since Mabalacat was found, Barangay Sta. Ines was considered one of the first barrios of Mabalacat. It was considered in the year 1890. The first living people in the barrios and to other barrios were Aetas. 80% of the land of Sta. Ines was rice field and only about 120 households are living in this barrio. One of the very first families who settled in the barrio was Dela Cruz Family. A very well-known and wealthy clan, who owns 60% of the total land area of the barangay. Because of their power, the Dela Cruz family resettled all the Aetas to nearby areas like Porac, Pampanga. The family has a Patron Saint St. Agnes (Sta. Ines).
Liberation came many resident of Sta.Ines found employment at Clark, Airbase. A few years later, in early 1950’s their primary school was established. The pioneer teachers were Mrs. Concha Dizon, Ms. Datu and Ms. Angeles Magat. It was during this period that the Sta.Ines residents enjoined some form of hope and economic resurgence.
Is to among the business district of our municipality, cooperative, educated and productive citizen with self-reliance, govern by responsible, transparent, accountable and discipline.
Not to be an Ira (Government Fund) dependent, but a self-reliance governance and able to delivered a complete basic necessary of our constituents.
