MABALACAT CITY – To further promote student’s empowerment in leading a healthy, drug-free and productive lifestyle, the DepEd Mabalacat Division together with the Mabalacat City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, PNP-Mabt, DSWD, MCG and other Non-Government Organizations, established a Barkada Kontra Drogra Chapter in Mawaque Resettlement High School last July 11, 2018.

The said group is designed as a preventive education and information program which counters the dangers and disastrous effects of drug abuse. It aims to empower the individual, especially the students in advocating healthy and drug-free lifestyles with the use of various wholesome activities.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, an advocate of Anti-Illegal Drugs Abuse himself, encouraged the students to help the local government and their school in promoting a drug-free lifestyle to their peer groups thus making Mabalacat a Drug-Free City. He also emphasized the importance of the group as it will help those who are currently in danger of Illegal Drug Abuse.

Baldwin Dublin, OIC Head Teacher III, MRHS, and Helen V. Yamat, Guidance Teacher Designate, led and facilitated the activity in the mentioned school.
