With a budget of 3 million funded through Bottom Up Budgeting (B.U.B) from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), as initiated by Mayor Crisostomo “Cris” Garbo (MCG), Mabalacat Public Market is currently being renovated to give the city a fully developed and a customer-friendly public market.

According to OIC – City Market Administrator Ryan Mendiola, this renovation project which started earlier this November, was prioritized due to the dilapidated roofing and old age of the building. This being the case, City Engineer Rodrigo De Leon made sure to give extra attention to the renovation of the facade and mezzanine hall of the market.

Additionally, Mr. Mendiola mentioned that the contractor was reluctant at first to allow the stallholders to continue their businesses while renovation is on-going. Fortunately, the market administrator thought of some alternatives for market vendors to safely proceed with their respective businesses.

The stallholders and vendors alike had favorable responses in respect with the development of the market building. Considering that the current administration started only at third and last quarter of this year, MCG was already able to establish such enhancement in delivering better service to the people of Mabalacat City.

The renovation of the public market building is expected to be completed by the end of the year and is expected to be more effective and more convenient for all market-goers.
