MCG-CSWDO Holds WCAPIN Meeting; Discusses Opening of Women and Children Protection Unit in MabalacatJune 27, 2018 7:06 am / News
MABALACAT CITY – To further enhance the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Program of the City, the MCG-City Social Welfare and Development Office, along with the Gender and Dev’t Office, gathered all stakeholders in a meeting today, June 26, 2018 at Side Griller Function Hall, Mabiga, Mabt. City.
The said meeting was called to discuss the protocol and other matters relative to the Women and Children Abuse Prevention Intervention Network (WCAPIN) in the city. The said group is a team of experts – in the fields of Social Welfare, Medical, and Legal who will work together in handling child/women abuse cases.
Josephine Tanglao, CSWDO, welcomed the participants who included City Social Workers, City Health Officer Dr. Ma. Clara Aquino, PNP-Mabt. City PO2 Eric Esguerra, MCC Counselor Josevy A. Taguibao, City Information Office and GAD Office Staff.
Mayor Crisostomo Garbo also attended the activity and expressed his full support for the program especially to the needs of the MCG – Women and Children Protection Unit (WCPU).
Charlo Costales, City GAD Officer, presented the protocols of handling a child/women abuse case using the systematic and holistic approach which will all be held in the WCPU. This is to ensure that each case is handled with proper procedures as well as to avoid traumatizing the victims by reducing their stress and fear. The WCPU is a one-stop center equipped with facilities that will help in processing cases of abuse including a conference room for interviews, and a sexual assault forensic evidence (SAFE) kit also known as “rape kit” which will help identify and preserve evidence of sexual assault.
The Women and Children Protection Unit is located on ground floor, City Hall, Xevera, Tabun, Mabt. City.
