MCG Signs MOA with DICT and Metro Clark ICT Council on Free Wifi AccessMay 11, 2018 2:18 am / News
MABALACAT CITY – The Mabalacat City Government, led by Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, took a vital step in transforming Mabalacat into a “Smart City” by signing a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Information and Communications Technology and Metro Clark ICT Council last May 10, 2018 at Mimosa Golf Course Hilltop Restaurant, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
The said MOA titled “Pipol Konek Free Wifi” aimed to enhance government service and improve the lifestyle of Mabalaquenos by providing free internet access in public places around the city (including Clark). These areas include parks, Brgy./City hall, Public Schools, and State Colleges.
Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, in his remarks, recognized the necessity to adapt to the changing needs of the people especially as we embark on a technological era. With better internet access, MCG sees more opportunities both for the government and the public.
The MCICTC also held its General Membership Meeting where presentations on Industrial Revolution and Cybersecurity were discussed. An induction of MCICTC New Members, led by Grace Fabros-Tyler, Ph.D., President MCICTC, followed after.
Mayor Garbo received a Plaque of Recognition from the said council, for his support and invaluable contribution to the group’s advocacies. Atty. Emmanuel Ignacio, Chief, City Legal Office, was also awarded a Plaque of Appreciation.
