The right to vote is recognized as a fundamental human right, which is vested to all people and no person can be denied of it by reason of “status.” This is a right that should not be taken for granted, as it is essential to observe democracy in the country.

With the passage of the bill on the postponement of the 2016 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to law, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced the reopening of voter’s registration.

In line, voter’s registration, reactivation and correction is currently on-going at Mabalacat City Hall Comelec Office from November 7 up until November 30, 2017. Currently there are 104, 118 registered voters in the whole of Mabalacat City.

Earlier this week, Mr. Orlando Rivera, a resident of Aguarin Compound, Dau who failed to vote in the previous 2 elections lined up early to have his name reactivated.

According to Mr. Rivera, he really wanted to exercise his right to vote again as this is a way of letting his voice be heard. Also, he sincerely extends his thanks to the staff of Mabalacat City Hall Comelec Office for assisting him all throughout the process.

Moreover, all other unregistered voters of Mabalacat City are encouraged to register. All that is needed for new voters is a valid ID.
